I like to think one of Africa’s best secret is, Africa's history itself. Treat it as one young man having a superpower but not knowing about it because his father and mother didn't know that their granddad created several civilizations and trade systems on Earth.

So, Can you tell your African History?

The history of Africa begins with the first emergence of Homo sapiens in East Africa, continuing into its modern present as a patchwork of diverse and politically developing nation-states.

Africa's written history starts with the rise of Egyptian civilization in the 4th millennium BC, and in succeeding centuries follows the development of the many diverse societies beyond the Nile Valley. From an early date, this has involved critical interactions with non-African civilizations. These ranged from the Phoenicians, who established the merchant empire of Carthage, to the Romans, who colonized all of North Africa in the first century BC. Africa has a rich and complex history but there is widespread ignorance of this heritage. A celebrated British historian once said there was only the history of Europeans in Africa. And the realization of this is equally important as saving the continent is.

Where did we fall short? Africa built individual systems.

Africa's story is not just about its ancient civilizations but also about the kingdoms and empires that flourished throughout the continent, showcasing the diversity and richness of African cultures. From the powerful West African kingdoms of Mali, Songhai, and Ghana, known for their wealth, architecture, and advanced societies, to Great Zimbabwe in the south, evidence of a sophisticated civilization that traded gold and ivory with distant lands. The history of Africa is also marked by its interaction with the world through trade routes across the Sahara and along the East African coast, connecting Africa to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This interconnectedness facilitated cultural exchanges and influenced the development of African societies. Understanding Africa's comprehensive history, including its struggles, achievements, and contributions to the world, is crucial for recognizing the continent's place in the global narrative.
